The business that was to become Dyna Drug Corporation was established in 1915 and had little to do with the distribution of pharmaceutical products. Dy Hun, the father of its present Chairman, Dr. James Dy, established his business as a cigarette distributor and grocery store.

So successful was this venture that Dy Kim An Cigar & Cigarette company was acknowledged as one the biggest importer and wholesaler of all the leading brands of cigarettes.

In 1955, the young James G. Dy, then only 24, became its general manager. Four years later, in 1959, the young man left the company to try to make it on his own.

From his father’s business name Dy Kim An, the budding entrepreneur took the Dy, removed the Kim and using Na instead of An, he set up his first business – a recording company he named Dyna Products.

Dr. James Dy’s business flourished. In 1976, he took over the family business and due to the increasing demand for OTC medicines, saw the potential of transforming the cigarette company and grocery, now a supermarket, into a pharmaceutical distributor and wholesaler

He changed the name of the company to Dyna Drug Corporation and set up its office and warehouse operations in Sta. Elena St. in Binondo, Manila, where customers and retailers would pick up their product orders. Dyna Drug Corporation is one of the pioneers in the Philippine pharmaceutical wholesale industry.

With the growing demand of retailers from small and medium scale drugstores the company ventured in 1997 to expand and deliver to its customers in Metro Manila, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, Bicol, Cavite, Bulacan, Nueva Viscaya, Mindoro, Tacloban, Davao, Osamis, Tuguegarao, Baguio and Iloilo.

In March 2005 Dyna Drug acquired ownership of an established brand from Pascual Laboratories. It is a combined low dose oral contraceptive pill brand called, MICROPIL.

On its 3oth year, in 2006, Dyna Drug expanded and opened its new warehouse and state of the art office building at the corner of Felipe Pike, Lanite and Banner Streets in Bagong Ilog, Pasig City.

The following year 2007 proved to be a banner year for the company with milestone events that significantly strengthen its position in the local business community.

In February, Dyna Drug opened its Pampanga office to service the around Central Luzon - Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Angeles and Olongapo.

In March, Dyna Drug acquired ownership from Pascual Laboratories another established brand - GLUCOST oral rehydration salts.

In September, Cerebos Pacific Limited gave Dyna Drug Corporation the exclusive distributorship of the world renowed Brand's Essence of Chicken and Brand’s Bird’s Nest..

November saw Dyna Drug open its Cebu office. The following year, in February 2008, Dyna Drug acquired from Cerebos Pacific, adding to its portfolio, four additional variants of Brand’s Essence of Chicken, namely its Herbal range, and Brand’s Bird’s Nest Sugar-Free. Today, with a workforce of 170 people and servicing the needs of more than 1,000 small and medium scale drug stores, Dyna Drug Corporation is one of the largest full service wholesale distributor company in the Philippines.

It is a member of Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), Drug Stores Association of the Philippines (DSAP) and belongs to the Top 1000 Corporations in the country.
