The emergence of the AMA Institute of Computer Studies in October 1980 pioneered computer literacy in the Philippines. It was founded by Dr. Amable R. Aguliluz V, with his faith in the Filipino’s capacity to adapt the latest in technological innovations. A year later, the AMA Computer College was born, together with the launching of the country’s first four-year course offering in Computer Science. Responding to the remarkable replication from the youth, Dr. Aguiluz continuously enhanced AMACC’s education program by establishing more branches that would provide four to five-year courses. Dr. Aguiluz felt the need for more specialized yet very accessible computer training programs that would produce highly skilled graduates in less than four years. This brought about the rise of AMA Computer Learning Center in 1986, AMA Telecommunications and Electronics learning Center (AMATEL) in 1996 and ABE International College of Business and Economics in 1999.
