Responsibilities


Present in the Philippines since 1985, Handicap International operates development and risk reduction programmes in several areas of the country.
Following the disaster caused by typhoon Yolanda on November 8th 2013, Handicap International has deployed an emergency response team in the affected areas and is now recruiting additional personnel to participate in the emergency response efforts.
 
Project: Support to self recovery to most vulnerable Typhoon Yolanda affected population, Panay Island, Republic of the Philippines
 
 
The database officer will be in charge of creating, updating and maintaining the project databases.
  • Ensure the creation, functioning, update and maintenance of the project database
  • Guarantee the accuracy of information contained in Database
  • Produce relevant information extracted from the database, such as statistical figures, mapping or pre-filled reports
  • Produce actual mapping of the intervention area using mapping software
  • Ensure safe keeping of all data produced
  • Support the team members to correctly complete all documentation (assessment forms, donation certificates, daily activity register, etc)
  • Write weekly activity and progress reports
  • Assist the project team to develop IEC materials, leaflets, information brochures and other materials using various communication means
  • Keep responsibility of hard files and all documentation related to the project

Requirements


  • University degree related to Data collection and analysis
  • Professional experience in data management and monitoring
  • INGO working experience will be an asset
  • Management experience of data entry will be an asset
  • Knowledge/Skills on vulnerability, disability and social field
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Common sense and analysis data competencies
  • Excellent computers skills
  • Proactive and highly motivated
  • Adaptation to specific working conditions
  • Capacity to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural team and autonomously
  • Willingness to learn new skills and/or approaches
  • Languages - English (write and speak fluently); Tagalog (Ability to communicate fluently); Capiznon and/or Hiligaynon (Ability to communicate)
 
This fixed contract is for a period of two months with possibility of extension and the position is based in Sigma with possible travel to Roxas, for a starting on January 27th 2014.
