The interest of people in working for the government has been increasing, particularly since JobStreet.com started presenting job opportunities in the public sector on the website. If you are one of those considering or thinking of joining the ranks of government employees, you should already know that the primary qualification to applying for a government post is civil service eligibility, which means passing the civil service exams. So, how does one go about taking the Civil Service examinations?

(1) Get your qualifications ready.

(3) Download the forms.

As the article states, there is a process on taking the Civil Service Examination, first of which is to accomplish a form. The form is available in the Civil Service Commission  website, or you may click through here. Download the form, fill it out, and proceed with the process of applying for a slot on the pencil and paper test.

As of the moment, there is no schedule for the Civil Service Computerized Examination (COMEX), which leaves you the option of taking the pen and paper test. Schedules and requirements are here.

Meanwhile, if you are automatically eligible for civil service, then the next step for you is to file for a grant of eligibility under special laws and CSC issuances. Depending on your qualification, you need to file for eligibility with the right form. Here is the link to the forms that you would need to accomplish before applying for automatic eligibility. (4) Take the exam.

(5) Include your eligbility on your JobStreet profile.

One last reminder: Once you have gotten your civil service eligibility (whether through passing the Civil Service Examinations or getting automatic eligibility),  reflect your eligibility on your JobStreet.com profile. You may do any or all of these options:

  1. Scan a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility and attach it to your JobStreet.com profile;
  2. Include your Civil Service eligibility number (found on the upper left hand of your certificate) in your JobStreet.com profile;
  3. Mention your Civil Service eligibility number in your resumé, which you also have the option of attaching to your JobStreet.com profile.
