The first major mistake that fresh graduates usually make when looking for a job for the first time is sending a generic resume.

A generic resume that doesn't highlight your strengths wouldn't even earn a second glance from experienced hiring managers who have probably seen thousands of resumes. For it to stand out from the other jobseekers with more experience, you need to be creative and know what to include:

Basic information

Include your name, location, and contact information. Provide a link to your online portfolio or attach photos of your published works.

Career objective

Ensure that this is short, concise, and should emphasize the skills and abilities that you have. Keep in mind that you need to tailor fit this part depending on the company and position you're eyeing.

Skills and knowledge

A bulleted section that is, again, tailor-fit to the position you're targeting. This should provide support to the achievements that you'll list.

Education

Start with your highest educational attainment and include your GPA or GWA (general weighted average) if you think this can increase the chance of you standing out in a good way.

Work experience

This can be filled if you know what to look for: internships, part-time jobs, or any volunteer experiences that you have are considered as work experience.
