Pinoy Jobseekers Like You Are in Demand!

Over 1.8 million Filipinos are employed abroad—proof that we are in demand globally. But with the rise of remote jobs, you don't need to leave the country to work for a foreign company. Even with this setup, Filipinos still seem to be the employee of choice among outside employers based on The Future of Recruitment report.

Multiple job offers

The economy may still be recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, but the job market is still highly active. In fact, nearly 90% of surveyed Filipinos—much higher than the global average— report being approached for various roles in the past year. Part of the reason is increased automation, which, according to the Decoding Global Talent report, is what companies are fast-tracking to stay competitive. Because businesses are digitizing operations, more jobs have become available.

Increased negotiation power

Because Filipinos are sought after, most surveyed feel confident about negotiating to get better compensation and benefits. How does negotiation work for you? It makes you realize your worth while helping clarify your duties and job expectations. Also, you get to make an excellent first impression by being honest about your preferences and goals. This shows your professionalism and proactiveness.

Better recruitment experience

More than half of Filipinos from the study said they would forego an offer if they had a negative recruitment experience. The survey also shows that local talent like you are savvy jobseekers and open to new recruitment platforms and headhunters.

Job Offer Deal Breaker Examples

To know what jobseekers want, the survey interviewed candidates in different employment stages, such as those actively job hunting, open to offers, and planning to leave their current job.

Deal Breaker #1: Financial Compensation

You're not alone if you prefer seeing job ads with salary ranges. Today's jobseekers want to know the compensation up front. All over the world, workers still consider pay a top deal breaker when job hunting. Most active jobseekers say their primary concern is getting a higher salary because they are unsatisfied with their current pay. Deal Breaker #2: Work-Life Balance

Why do Filipinos value good work-life balance? We are known for being family-centered, which is why we appreciate our time outside work. Aside from fostering stronger relationships, work-life balance boosts physical and mental health and increases job satisfaction. Another benefit is that it allows time for personal pursuits, improving overall fulfillment and professional motivation.

Deal Breaker #3: Retirement and Insurance Benefits

According to the survey, experienced employees are more concerned about retirement benefits and financial stability. As you advance in your career, you may worry about things you didn't think about when you started. These include health challenges, family protection, and a stable source of income when you're no longer working.

Deal Breaker #4: Job Security

Most Filipino jobseekers target a stable career to secure their finances and prepare for the future. With job security, you can stay in a company to learn new skills and advance your position. Breadwinners gain peace of mind, knowing they can continue supporting their families. Jobs that promise security typically include health insurance and retirement perks.

Deal Breaker #5: Flexible setups

According to the previous Decoding the Digital Talent Challenge report, nearly 70% of digital talents prefer working remotely for employers outside their country. This is just an example of how both employers and employees have become more open to hybrid or fully work-from-home setups. Though remote working has been around before COVID-19, the pandemic has sped up its widespread acceptance. For jobseekers, work flexibility may involve job location or schedule, with some preferring to have full or partial control of their working hours. Explore careers to find out what you want.

5 Benefits of Being In-Demand

As the report says, it's currently a jobseeker's market, so go ahead and grab these opportunities to grow your career!

1. Expand your horizons.

If you can complete your work with your eyes closed, then it's time for a new challenge. Digital careers abound, which you can prepare for by building on previous work experience and self-learning. Modern employers are no longer looking at where you graduated, what degree you finished, or where you live. They care more about skills and attitudes, which boosts your chances of being a global employee with higher-level projects and goals.

2. Continue working despite life changes.

Do you want to change careers? Are you a mother returning to work after a considerable period? Or a fresh graduate hoping to break into the digital workforce? Because of the varied opportunities in today's job market, you can take your pick based on your current needs and lifestyle.

3. Choose your preferred work culture.

Employees last longer in companies that offer their desired work culture. This has many aspects, such as styles of communication and leadership, work flexibility, and job perks. How influential is work culture? The Decoding Global Talent report states that almost 60% of jobseekers would avoid companies that didn't practice diversity, inclusion, and environmental awareness.

4. Get better treatment from possible employers.

Recruitment is a way for employers to assess you and the other way around. Over the years, companies have learned that a smooth and considerate recruitment process does wonders for their company branding, which attracts more jobseekers in the long run. They are now conscious about making a good impression on you by first reaching out whether or not you made the cut. They carefully craft thoughtful offer letters, hoping to win your favor.

5. Get more information about employers.

The internet provides a wealth of company information via corporate websites, independent reviews, press releases, and social media. Word-of-mouth works, too! With research, you know if you're a good fit for the work culture, make informed decisions, and better prepare for job interviews.
