Since the release in November 2022 of OpenAI’s ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer), the AI chatbot has been used to write student essays, cover letters for job applications, and even write academic articles. It mimics human writing so well that there have been reports of some companies letting go of workers and relying on chatbots for their writing requirements.

Do We Really Risk Losing Our Jobs to AI?

Much of AI output at present still needs to be edited and checked by a human before use. We can think of chatbots as productivity enhancing tools that can help us do our jobs better and faster, rather than replacing humans completely in many jobs.
