What's it like to be a Front End Developer?
Front End Developers have one general responsibility: to ensure that website visitors can easily interact with the page. To do this, they combine design, technology, and programming to code a website’s appearance, and take care of debugging. Whenever a user visits a website, anything that they see, click on, or otherwise use is the work of a Front End Developer.
Tasks and duties
- Optimizing the user experience.
- Utilizing HTML, JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to fulfill clients’ concepts.
- Developing and maintaining the user interface.
- Implementing design on mobile websites.
- Creating tools that improve site interaction regardless of the browser.
- Managing software workflow.
- Following Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices.
- Fixing bugs and testing for usability.
- Determining the structure and design of web pages.
- Striking a balance between functional and aesthetic design.
- Ensuring web design is optimized for smartphones.
Front End Developers possess an understanding of key design principles. They are responsible for implementing visual and interactive elements that users engage with through their web browser when using a web application. They are usually supported by Back-End Web Developers, who are responsible for server-side application logic and integration of the work Front-End Developers do.
How to become a Front End Developer
Front End Developers are experts in website/application development. A relevant degree and the ability to keep abreast of the latest updates in the field are important when entering this role.
- 1.Obtain a degree in computer science or a related field. You can also apply for short-term courses such as web development, digital marketing, and video and film editing among others.
- 2.You have to be proficient in coding languages such as HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), JavaScript, and jQuery. You also have to understand the server-side CSS.
