A Sales Executive initiates, then manages, the sales process for clients until the completion of a sale. The role can vary from an entry to mid-level role depending on the organizational structure of a company. Sales Executives have a solid understanding of a company's sales process from start to finish. They communicate and interact with potential or existing clients, generate new leads, cross-sell additional options to existing customers, and foster current business relationships. Some variations of the role may be found in different industries.
Tasks and duties
- Managing the customer relationship management (CRM) process.
- Composing, customizing, and delivering sales presentations for clients.
- Collaborating with team members to achieve sales and business objectives.
- Providing sales reports and customer feedback to achieve better results.
- Negotiating pricing and product features on behalf of the company.
How to become a Sales Executive
To start a career as a Sales Executive, you may require some experience in sales depending on the employer and the industry.
- 1.Complete a business-related degree. Taking up a college degree can take three to four years of study at a recognized educational institution.
- 2.Learn about the sales process. Some employers require familiarity with their sales process which could be trained, or can be considered a transferable skill from a similar industry.
- 3.Practice effective communication skills. The role requires a professional level of business communication. Having strong communication skills gives you an advantage in dealing with clients from different backgrounds and levels.
- 4.Take advanced studies in negotiation and related duties. Proven experience in price negotiation and cross-selling options may be beneficial.
