What's it like to be an Internal Auditor?
An Internal Auditor reviews the ins and outs of an organization to review and improve compliance, operations, and governance. They look at financial documents, survey if the rules are compliant with local rules and regulations, and assess the general practices of the business. Owners and board members may also tap an Internal Auditor for risk management strategies and to investigate fraudulent activities.

How to become an Internal Auditor
To become an Internal Auditor, you will need to complete a degree in business, finance, management, or accountancy. You need strong communication and negotiation skills in this role and you should have analytical and organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
Complete a bachelor degree in business or finance. Companies look for candidates who have a background in finance or deal with numbers.
Apply for entry-level positions in finance, audit, or taxation. Learn from more experienced audit professionals.
Consider getting a certification. If you completed a degree in accountancy, become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by passing the exam conducted by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC). Another certification to consider is the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) by completing the requirements and the exam administered by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Move up the career ladder by applying for internal auditor positions. Some mid-level roles require around 2-4 years of work experience in taxation, finance, or audit.
