What's it like to be a Copywriter?
Copywriters may work freelance, in an advertising or marketing agency, or in a company’s marketing department. They are employed in a variety of industries such as healthcare, retail, finance and many others. Copywriters usually spend most of their working hours in front of a computer, crafting text for ads, technical information, speeches and product information designed to persuade readers.
Tasks and duties
- Meeting with clients to understand their needs.
- Suggesting ideas for copy and brainstorming with marketing and public relations teams.
- Creating copy that follows the creative brief and fulfills marketing objectives.
- Collecting client feedback and revising accordingly.
- Working with other members of the creative team.
- Meeting project deadlines.
These communication professionals must have strong collaboration skills because they work with editors, graphic artists and web developers to meet clients’ specifications. They conduct research and use their creativity to produce copy that captures their readers’ interests. Copywriters must also have a deep knowledge of the industries they’re writing for, so they can develop relevant and informative copy.
How to become a Copywriter
Copywriter is a skill-oriented role that requires professional experience and a solid background on communication basics such as grammar and content clarity.
- 1.Complete a bachelor degree. Employers typically prefer applicants with a degree in communications, journalism or other related fields.
