A Product Manager develops product strategies using market research and leads the development of new products or services. They also work on improving their products with enhancements or features to meet customer needs. Product Managers typically oversee the development of digital products, such as software.
Tasks and duties
- Planning and managing the product development life cycle.
- Conducting research in areas of opportunities for business growth.
- Designing product strategies and collaborating with other teams for release to market.
- Monitoring product performance and using data points to improve market acceptance and product usage.
- Developing build and pricing strategies to meet market demands.
The role includes collaboration between external and internal stakeholders to determine business objectives and develop products based on the results. How to become a Product Manager
You usually need a degree and extensive industry experience to become a Product Manager.
- 1.Complete a related business or technical degree. This may take three to five years of formal education at a university.
- 2.Gain practical working knowledge in the industry. Choose roles that focus on managing projects and people.
- 3.Develop leadership and communication skills. The role requires knowing how to lead cross-functional teams and collaboration with stakeholders in making decisions.
