What's it like to be a Marketing Manager?
Marketing Managers develop marketing strategies and plan the marketing budget of their entire department. Marketing Managers are responsible for boosting their company's brand and reputation. They do this by delivering marketing campaigns and projects. Marketing Managers are accountable for the ideation and execution of marketing campaigns. They are also expected to track and analyze the performance of advertising campaigns and ensure that all marketing materials are in line with their organization’s brand identity.
Tasks and duties
- Evaluating and optimizing marketing and pricing strategies.
- Analyzing market trends and preparing forecasts.
- Generating new business leads.
- Increasing brand awareness and market share.
- Coordinating marketing strategies with sales, finance, public relations and production departments.
- Developing and managing the marketing department's budget.
- Overseeing branding, advertising and promotional campaigns.
- Managing the marketing department's staff.
- Preparing and presenting reports to senior management.
How to become a Marketing Manager
To become a Marketing Manager, you usually need a bachelor degree and extensive experience.
- Complete a bachelor degree in marketing, communications, business administration, management or a related field.
- Complete on-the-job training as part of your degree.
- Marketing Management, BS in Developmental Communication and BSBA in Management pathways do not have a board examination. However, you may opt to take the Civil Service Examination (CSE) conducted by the Philippine Civil Service Commission (PCSC) to qualify for work in government offices.
- You can also consider a masters degree such as an MBA to further your career.
