Becoming a Pastry Chef requires a proper education in pastry making. There are no minimum education requirements for some employers but having a professional certificate from a recognized institution can help you enter a job.
- Consider learning the ins and outs of kitchen operations by starting as a Commis Chef.
- Obtain a professional certificate in pastry arts or a degree in food and beverage services management. Getting this kind of educational attainment can take around one to four years, depending on the institution.
- Take up further specializations in pastry cooking. These can be obtained through recognized institutions such as the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) or commercial pastry schools that offer similar disciplines.
- Compile a portfolio of recipes as proof of work to show future employers.
